A convicted murderer, who is out on parole, has been left with a broken arm after cops allegedly tortured him for several hours and stuffed him in a chest freezer.
Shamiel Gamieldien, 35, of Athlone, has now opened a case against the two officers stationed at Athlone SAPS.
He was recently granted parole and placed under house arrest after serving three years of his seven-year sentence, for a murder which took place in Retreat.
Shamiel says the cops accused him of hiding drugs and firearms at a local tuck shop but claims he is innocent.
“It was on Monday just after 1am and they didn’t even knock on the door, they smashed and kicked open the door,” says
Shamiel.

“They said I must get up and get dressed, and go with them to the shop.”
At the shop, owned by Bangladesh nationals, cops allegedly broke and smashed the windows and questioned everyone.
“They didn’t even have a warrant, they just went inside with me and broke the windows.
“They asked the two Bangladeshis where the stuff was and wanted to beat them, but let them go.
“They told me to get inside the freezer and there were all kinds of vleis inside, even hoender nekkies. I got in and they forced the door closed on me and began jumping on top of the freezer.
“They dragged me out and the one started beating me with a baseball bat and the other with a firearm. I was holding my arm in front of my face to prevent them from hitting me there.”

The officers then allegedly took him to the Vlei informal settlement in Belgravia where more people were apparently beaten up.
Shamiel says he was let go but passed out and woke up in hospital.
“I do not know why they are doing this to me. I am just in my house and I do not break my parole conditions,” he says.
“I just buy sweets and chips for the children at the shop and apple juice for me.”
His sister, Fairooz Williams, claims cops also damaged their CCTV cameras at the house.
Police did not respond to queries by last night.
