If you think you have what it takes to be a model, then you have to enter the “Next Top Model for the Brands” competition.
Male and females of all shapes, sizes, races, and aged between 12 to 30 are encouraged to register for free for the competition.
Owner of Models for the Brand, Morne Grosch, 38, from Bishop Lavis, says people are too focused on beauty pageants and that is why he is bringing the first-ever studio shoot competition to life.
“We are not a modelling agency, but rather a stepping stone for those seeking a platform in the industry,” he says.
“I started with this competition after my mom passed away and I went around to the schools in the area to build portfolios for those wanting to enter into the catalogue modelling industry,” Morne explains.
In just three weeks, over 400 models have already entered.
Entry into the competition is free and every contestant will also receive a free portfolio.
“We have entrants from De Doorns, Worcester, Atlantis, Mitchells Plain, Delft, Langa, Gugulethu and more.
“This will also become an annual competition. I am doing this out of my own pocket now but hope to get some sponsors on board,” Morne explains.
The winner will be announced on 16 December and will win R10 000 cash and a R15 000 design campaign.
Wesley Moodley of the NGO, HELP (Healing, Empowering, Leadership, and Prosperity) says they have joined hands with Morne to make the competition a success.
“We are assisting him and amplifying his concept through our range of networks,” Wesley adds.
To enter, models must go to Montevideo Primary School in Skool Street, Montana on Saturday at 11am.
Entrants to wear blue jeans, a white t-shirt with heels or takkies.
