This Mitchells Plain dance trio needs your help to “Da-sturb the peace” and win an international competition.
The crew must raise R105 000 to get them to the United States for the 19th World Hip Hop Dance Championship in August.
Da-sturbin Da Peace Revival crew is a non-profit organisation (NPO) from Portlands which was invited to the competition taking place in Phoenix, Arizona, to compete against over 4 000 dancers from 50 countries after they ranked first place at the SA National Hip Hop Dance Championships in Cape Town in December 2018.
Ignatius Pastor, 34, his wife Tamaryn, 32, and 18-year-old Cameron Erasmus hope they can raise funds to make the trip.
Choreographer Ignatius says the invitation is a dream come true.

“The crew was started 12 years ago and over time we ended with three members.
“Getting this invitation is big as we’ve been trying to get into the competition for over 10 years. We got the opportunity three years ago, but unfortunately we could not attend due to financial difficulties,” he explains.
Each member needs R35 000, which will cover return flights, nine nights accommodation, shuttle services, passports, visa costs, and entry fees.
Ignatius and his wife run a dance studio at the Portlands Indoor Centre for children.

“We’ll not only be representing South Africa, but also learning about new cultures. The knowledge we gain we will bring back to our people,” Ignatius says.
Chairperson for the NPO, Judy Rhodes, says they need sponsors.
“I’ve sent out letters to many companies and the crew is open to any gigs that pay to raise monies,” Judy says.
