Adele has opened up about her nearly-50kg weight loss and her romance with new sports agent boyfriend on her CBS special Adele One Night Only.
The two-hour special includes footage from Oprah Winfrey’s interview with the 33-year-old singer.
Adele revealed that she met Rich Paul, 39, on the dance floor at a birthday party, and when asked what drew her to him, she said, “Yeah, he’s just hilarious. Yeah, and very smart.
“I met him and then a couple of years later, we went out for dinner, which he says was a business meeting.
“I’m like, a business meeting about what? And then it was just the first time we’d hung out only on our own, and not with other friends and stuff like that. So that was a very natural way.”
The Easy on Me hitmaker added he’s making the relationship “easy”.
Adele, who releases her much-anticipated new album 30 this month, also revealed that she wasn’t even trying to lose weight, but was trying to get over her anxiety after splitting with her ex-husband, Simon Konecki.
“I’ve always worked out a bit... a couple times a week for my back,” she admitted.
She realised that when she was with her trainer, “that I didn’t have any anxiety when I was with him at the gym.”
Now that she’s dramatically slimmer, it’s no big deal, she says, adding: “I wasn’t shocked or even fazed by it — my body has been objectified my entire career.
“Am I too big or am I too small, am I hot or not or whatever. I never looked up to anyone because of their body.”
“I was body positive then and I’m body positive now.”
She added that she feels bad if her weight loss, “made anyone feel horrible about themselves... I’m trying to sort my own life out.”
