It was the final curtain call for the judges auditions for Season 17 of Idols SA on Sunday, with a final 108 Golden Ticket recipients heading to Theatre Week.
Judges Randall Abrahams, Unathi Nkayi and Somizi Mhlongo were joined by guest judge Zwai Bala as they closed off the auditions.
The chosen ones will now battle it out in the coming weeks for a space in the Top 10.
Thulani Ngcwembe, 23, is only the fifth singer from Cape Town who got a golden ticket.
“I'm so happy to have made it to Theatre Week. I am ready to do my best and bring my A-game for this challenging round,” he says.
“The competition seems tough but it's going to take determination and hard work to pull through with this one, I'm ready though, so ready!”
Thulani will be joining Daylin Sass, Lindokuhle Matina, Realeboga Kgosi and Sthuthukile Langa to keep the Cape flag flying high.
It's evident that the guys are taking over this season as the majority of Golden Ticket holders are male.
Wrapping up the auditions, the judges said they were impressed with the talent seen over the four days.
“For me, I am happy because this year the guys are very strong,” Unathi says.
“There is a lot of diversity and many good singers.”
Somizi concurred, adding that he cannot wait for the coming weeks to see who will make it to the top 10.
“It’s a tough call for now, because there are so many potential winners,” he added.
