The V&A Waterfront is giving mense a lekker treat this Friday, in the comfort of your own home.
In a first for the popular tourist hotspot, they’re throwing a free concert and the online show is packed with some exciting surprises.
Comedian Marc Lottering will be the MC for the web audience, while artists on the line-up include Jimmy Nevis, Prime Circle’s Ross Learmonth, Wandile Mbambeni and Acoustic Element.
So lum it uit on your couch, turn up the volume on your smartphone, tablet, laptop or TV, and tune into the V&A Waterfront’s Good Night Friday online concert from 7pm to 8.30pm.
Donald Kau, the V&A Waterfront’s spokesperson, says the performers will all showcase their segments from their homes via live crossings.
He says while the concert is mahala, people can donate towards a good cause.
“The concert is free but, better still, please consider making a donation as all funds raised will go towards Ladies of Love charity which is providing meals for the needy.”
Marc says the online show will be a new experience for him: “The world is changing as we speak. I never imagined that I would ever be emceeing a gig online, but here we are.
“This would be my first time doing something like this, so it’s going to be interesting.
“I usually feed off the energy of a live audience, so Friday night’s going to be very different for me.
“I agreed to get involved because the gig is aligned with a charity that provides food to the needy.
The comedian says lack of food is becoming volatile issue: “This gig is one small way of doing something to help.”
Meanwhile, Jimmy Nevis says he has a nice surprise in store for fans.
“I’m so used to the live performances with my band, dancers, crowds and the screams and cheers, this live streaming forces me to create new things, not only by playing the piano and singing but also using a lot of my production to pre-record extra backing vocals and sounds.
“It’s a one-man Jimmy show but it sounds bigger than most.
“I’m also excited because I’ll also be launching my new song and video, called Hey Jimmy, on Friday.”
