Nearly 5000 thrilled fans filled the Grand Arena in GrandWest for Saxy Vibes lll on Saturday night.
Popular saxophonist Don Vino Prins celebrated 20 years in music with his show, highlighting his journey of music over the years.
The soulful sax player arrived in the arena on a bicycle, to tell the story of the time he worked in a retail store as a chicken packer.
“I wanted to relive that moment when my passion for music took over my life,” he told the audience.
“I used to work for Shoprite, but one day I just took my things and rode home on my bicycle because I knew this wasn’t for me anymore.”
Mense went bos when SAMA nominee Jarrad Ricketts took to the stage for a duet with Don Vino and his eight-piece band, performing his hit song, Paradise.
Liverpool-based saxophonist Andrew Young was up next with a solo that blew everyone away, while local diva Salome had everyone’s attention when she minced on stage in a short green rokkie, belting out her versions of I Don’t Wanna Know and What I Do Best.
Other guests included DJ Uncle Cal, Amy Jones, Jonathan Rubain and diva PJ Powers who, for a woman nearing her 60s, can still bust out killer moves and hit the high notes with her hit Jabulani.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Don Vino came off the stage to slow dance with his wife and business partner, Ronelle.
