The annual Switching on of the Festive Lights concert is around the corner, and for the third year in a row, the City of Cape Town is casting its net to catch the freshest singing talent innie Kaap.
Not only does the winner get to perform in front of thousands of mense on the Grand Parade, but also gets to pocket R10 000.
Concert organisers say they are looking for an inspiring singer, troupe or band to join the line-up at one of Cape Town’s most iconic festivals.
This free family-oriented event attracts thousands of people from all over who come sak en pak to enjoy the festive liggies switch-on, signalling the start of the festive season.
The two previous winners of the talent search are Nyota Parker, who won in 2016, and HiiiJackD who won last year.

Nyota is a Congolese-Irish-South African from Milnerton. The 17-year-old aspiring rapper was born in Dublin, Ireland.
HiiiJackD is made up of social media stars Devon Saunders and Justin Vega.
A video of their song Mother City earned over 115 000 buzz points on indi.com, almost 17 000 more than the second place artist, Chumani Ngojo.
To enter, unsigned Cape Town-based musicians need to upload a video and then share the content across social media platforms to get mense to vote for them.
Votes will push up their “buzz metre” and the artist with the most “buzz points” wins.
The challenge ends on Tuesday, 20 November.
