Miss South Africa, Thulisa Keyi, is currently one of the favourites at the Miss World competition which takes place in Sanya, China on Saturday, December 8.
The 26-year-old beauty, who hails from Mdantsane outside East London, is representing Mzansi against contestants from 119 other countries and is already one of the front-runners in the competition.
Thulisa was runner-up to Miss SA winner Tamaryn GreenC, who is competing in Miss Universe 2018, which takes place on 17 December in Bangkok, Thailand.
In the build-up to the finale of Miss World, Thulisa won the Miss World Designer Award (shared with the People’s Republic of China) and has placed in the Top 5 for Miss World Top Model.
Her award-winning gown was designed by Biji.
South Africa is regarded as one of the top pageant countries in the world based on wins and finalists in the Top 10.
Rolene Strauss was crowned Miss World in 2014, in 2015 Liesl Laurie was a Top 10 finalist and became the Continental Queen of Africa for being the contestant who was placed the highest of all the African contestants.
And in 2017, Ade van Heerden also placed in the Top 10.
