Let’s kick off the weekend with a glittering affair.
It’s the 9th annual Divas One Night Only event with performances by some of the best drag artists in Cape Town, happening on Saturday at the Joseph Stone Auditorium in Athlone.
Kat Gilardi, who is the mastermind behind the Divas One Night Only Variety Show, says she is excited to be hosting another one.
“The talent and enthusiasm from the Cape Town community has been amazing. This year so many more talents have come forward and signed up for the audition process,” she says.
The first show was held in 2011 as a charity event and became an instant success with sold-out shows every year since.
Divas to perform on the night include 3Divas, Manila Von Teez, Angel Lalamore, Anushka Parker, Laylah Raja Novacek and Vida Fantabisher.
GLITZY AFFAIR: All the divas performing at their gig
“Expect broadway and musical movie scenes. Not everyone gets the opportunity to attend theatre in Cape Town and so I thought this theme would be perfect,” adds Kat.
It’s a family-friendly event and tickets are available from Computicket and the door at R160.
One of Cape Town’s most loved comedians is returning with a new run of his inaugural one-man show.
The Bloem Boykie Diaries takes place at the Roxy Revue Bar at Grandwest from 1-3 August.
LAUGHTER GUARANTEED: Comic Carl Weber
Directed by well-known comedian, Stuart Taylor, the show is about Carl Weber’s hilarious journey from a farm boy to the big city.
“My decision to move to Cape Town was on a complete whim. I had no job and nothing lined up and was looking for life to show me a sign as to what I was meant to do next,” Carl says.
Tickets cost R150 via Computicket or at the door.
