A Kuils River teen has been selected out of 6000 boys for the 2019 Western Province Under-13 Craven Week team.
Reece Heaton, 13, is the smallest in the A-team, standing at just 1.53m tall.
Trials were held across Western Cape primary schools and he took part at the trial, which was held at his De Kuilen Primary School.
Out of 6000, only 46 boys were selected to make up two teams.
The A-team will go to Craven Week in Mpumalanga, where they will compete against the juniors of the Bulls, Lions, Cheetahs and other teams.
The B-team will compete in Cradock.
Meanwhile, his mom reveals Reece was headhunted to join a well-known high school next year.

Reece, who plays hooker, says: “I’m excited about the opportunity, last year I was selected for WP Under 12, and this year (Craven Week) was a goal for me.
“I always wanted to go to Craven Week, but I had some doubt that I would be selected as it was tough.”
His mom, Amy Heaton, says several school approached them with scholarships.
“We groomed Reece for soccer but in Grade 3, he took a different path and started rugby. He won an award every year since,” she says.
His father Enrico, 40, says: “Reece never belonged to a club and only plays school rugby.
“We are extremely proud of him and all he has achieved, this is an amazing opportunity and we will support him all the way.”
Craven Week takes place from 24 to 28 June.
