Three skollies accused of gang-raping a lesbian woman from Lotus River appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court today after the “mastermind” was caught by Grassy Park SAPS.
Last week police went on a manhunt for Gerald “Boofie” Daniels, 21, and his co-accused, who are just 14 and 17-years-old, were busted last week.
Grassy Park station commander Colonel Dawood Laing says the trio, who are members of the Dog Pound gang, held the 25-year-old woman hostage in her hokkie where they sodomised her in an attempt to “correct” her sexuality.
The woman came under attack on Friday, 28 February, just a day before the annual Cape Town Pride Festival, which aims to raise awareness about the problems facing the LGBTI community.
Laing says shortly after 10pm, she walked to a shop in 2nd Avenue, Lotus River, but when it was closed, she walked to another one in Duiker Avenue.
She was accosted by one of the suspects whom she knows and he told her someone wanted to speak to her at a house in Duiker Avenue.
Laing say Daniels put his arm around her and told her he was “in the mood for sex” before forcing her down to the ground and sodomising her, followed by the two teens.
CAUGHT: Daniels, 21
The victim reported the case and the teens were caught but Daniels went on the run.
The teens have been remanded into a juvenile detention centre.
Laing says Daniels was nabbed last Wednesday and appeared in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
