Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave José Mourinho his first trophy as Manchester United boss last night.
The new signing scored the winner in the Charity Shield as FA Cup winners United beat Premier League champions Leicester 2-1 at Wembley in the traditional season curtain-raiser.
United looked the better of the sides for most of the first half with the Foxes trying to unleash Jamie Vardy with long balls.
But United deserved to be in the lead with the more ambitious play.
And they got the lead in the 32nd minute when Jesse Lingard finished off a brilliant solo run to fire in his second goal at Wembley in two matches - after scoring the FA Cup winner against Crystal Palace in May.
But Leicester hit the ground running after the break and Jamie Vardy pounced on a weak back pass by Marouane Fellaini to round David De Gea and level the score.
Ibra was close to scoring in his first official game in English football with 12 minutes to go, but his poked attempt was cleared off the line by Danny Drinkwater.
But the Swedish superstar had the last laugh four minutes later when he headed home Antonio Valencia’s cross.
