Jurgen Klopp hailed Mo Salah as the best player in the world after the Egyptian helped Liverpool conjure up a 5-0 Premier League win at Watford on Saturday.
Salah turned on the style to set up Sadio Mane for his 100th Prem goal in the eighth minute before Roberto Firmino guided home James Milner’s cross for the first of his three goals in the 37th minute.
Firmino doubled his tally six minutes after the break after Ben Foster gloved a failed sliding clearance from one of his defenders into the Brazilian’s path to tap home.
Salah, a constant threat to Claudio Ranieri’s manne, then scored a wonder goal two minutes later when he binne-buite’d the Hornets’ defence, tricking three defenders, before curling the the ball into the far corner with his left foot – a similar bit of class to his goal against Manchester City earlier this month.
Firmino guided home another cross in added time to complete his hattrick, but Klopp only had ogies for Salah.
He says of his seven-goal Prem top scorer: “He is in a good shape… the three goals of Bobby were really nice, the 100th Premier League goal for Sadio and all these nice little stories, but you cannot overlook the performance of Mo.”
Asked by the press if Salah’s form makes him the best player in the game right now, Klopp says: “For me, he’s the best. I see him every day and that makes it more easy for me, but Mr [Robert] Lewandowski is out there, Ronaldo is still scoring like crazy, [Lionel] Messi still putting out performances on a world-class level, [Kylian] Mbappe and all these kind of things and others will come.
“But, yes, in this moment he is for sure on top of that list.”
