WESTERN Province stalwart Yaseen Vallie has called time on his career.

The 35-year-old, who started his cricketing journey with Province back in 2009, played a combined 325 professional matches, 142 first class, 124 List A and 59 T20s. Vallie started his career with WP under former coach Salieg Nackerdien.

He then went on to debut for the Cape Cobras where he struck a match winning 163 against the Titans in 2011.

With a Cobras squad boasting a batting line up of Andrew Puttick, Richard Levi, Stiaan Van Zyl, Justin Ontong and Justin Kemp there was just no guarantee in game time where he made the decision to move to the Warriors.

Vallie spent six years at the Warriors before making the move back to Cape Town where he has now retired.

Vallie says: “I am still passionate about the game, something I have been doing all my life – I am now looking forward to giving back and helping where I still feel I can offer a lot in a coaching role.

“It’s very difficult to put things into words, I appreciate the opportunity and the friendships I have made and also helping Cape Cobras and Western Province in these years.

“I just need a little of a break, but I will definitely be looking to coach and help where I can and explore other avenues... ”
