Aresenal on Wednesday continued strengthening their midfield.
After completing a deal for Uruguay international Lucas Torreira on Tuesday, they signed France youngster Matteo Guendouzi.
New Gunners boss Unai Emery was happy to the land the breakout World Cup star on a reported £26m (R459451981.68) deal from Sampdoria after being impressed with the 22-year-old’s defensive displays.
Emery says: “In Lucas Torreira we have signed a young player who is a very bright talent in the game. A midfielder with great quality.
“He is a young player already with good experience, but who wants to keep on growing.”
Torreira becomes Arsenal’s fourth signing after goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen, defender Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus and defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund.
Guendouzi, a 19-year-old youth international, joins from French Ligue 2 side FC Lorient.
