Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel believes new striker Romelu Lukaku will go from strength to strength as the Champions League holders begin their title defence tonight at 9pm.
Ahead of the visit of Zenit St Petersburg to Stamford Bridge, record signing Lukaku has scored three goals in three matches since joining the Blues last month, helping the team to the top of the Premier League alongside Manchester United and Liverpool.
With that sort of form, coupled by his £98m price tag, expectations are growing. Asked who will score more goals this season, Lukaku or Manchester United’s new signing Cristiano Ronaldo, the Chelsea boss says: “I couldn’t care less to be honest. As long as Lukaku scores for us.
“He [Lukaku] wants to help the team with his goals. He wants to score for Chelsea and he is not shy to speak this ambition out loud. He is full of confidence and is the kind of personality who can handle it.”
