Two-time javelin gold medalist Sunette Viljoen added a bronze medal to the Team SA tally, at the Commonwealth Games, at Australia's Gold Coast on Tuesday.

Viljoen, 34, who won the top honours at the Commonwealth showpiece events in Melbourne, Australia (2006) and Delhi, India (2010) before collecting a silver medal four years ago in Glasgow, produced an evening best of 62.08 metres.

She has now earned medals at four successive editions of the Commonwealth Games.

This placed her behind the Australian pair of Kathryn Mitchell (who threw a Games and national best of 68.92) and Kelsey-Lee Roberts (63.89).

Viljoen was also a silver medalist at the 2016 Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro.

The Rustenburg-born athlete, who also received national colours for the SA women's cricket team in the early 2000s, has a career best distance of 69.35 to her name.
