Manchester United face Real Sociedad looking to avoid a fourth straight KO by a Spanish side in Europe.
The Red Devils have been dumped out by Sevilla twice and Barcelona over the last three seasons and have won only three times in 25 away games against Spanish opposition (D11 L11).
Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s manne come up against a Sociedad side full of familiar faces, with Manchester City legend David Silva, ex-Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal and United old boy Adnan Januzaj.
Ahead of their last-32 first-leg showdown at the Juventus Stadium due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, Solskjaer is paaping over their Spanish hoodoo.
He says: “It’s probably down to the level of teams we’ve played. Spanish teams are good – we haven’t played well enough.
“You’ve got to be very, very good against them. Probably the hardest team we could get at this stage. Still in the hunt for Champions League.”
Former United winger Januzaj reckons he has a point to prove against his old teammates.
The Belgian says: “I love United a lot, they’re my favourite club.
“Obviously, when I saw that I would have to play against United, it was a bit of a weird feeling.
“But at the end of the day I want to play them and try to beat them, to show them also what they have missed and stuff like that.”
