New Zealand rugby star Sonny Bill Williams

New Zealand bounced back from a shock 14-12 loss to Japan to comfortably beat Kenya and keep their Olympic dream alive in Rio.

But if the All Blacks want to add Sevens glory to their XV-man title, they will have to do it without injured superstar Sonny Bill Williams and Joe Webber.

Williams ruptured his Achilles tendon and is expected to be out for up to nine months, ruling him out of the Rugby Championship this year.

NZRU chief Steve Tew says: “He will be out of rugby for six to nine months. He will be unavailable for the All Blacks and Steve [Hansen] coaches will have to start thinking about a replacement.”
