German Twitter users mercilessly mocked Russian President Vladimir Putin for seeking shelter under an umbrella in a downpour at the medals ceremony following the World Cup final in Moscow on Sunday.
The only thing that came come out of the #HelsinkiSummit is Putin allowing Trump to hold his umbrella at future world events. #PutinsPuppet can use his giant ties to wipe Vlad the Impaler’s brow as needed. #WorldCupFinal #WorldCup #PutinUmbrella pic.twitter.com/3hITfR4Cf4

Meanwhile French President Emmanuel Macron and Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, who were standing next to him, got drenched.
"In terms of umbrellas, Russia's motto is Putin first," one Twitter user noted.
Why does only Putin get the umbrella?

Another wrote: "Only Putin is made of sugar."
A third asserted: "Embarrassing closing image from the World Cup final. Putin gets protection, and everyone else is left standing in the rain."
