Four protesters from the punk band Pussy Riot who
stormed the pitch at last month's World Cup final have been released
in Russia, the activists reported on social media.
Pussy Riot said on its Facebook page overnight to Wednesday that the
activists still have to appear in court but are free to go for now.
A court ruled not to open the proceedings against them this week,
according to the group.
The four served 15 days in a Moscow prison for disrupting the
France-Croatia match in the Russian capital on July 15. Dressed in
police-style outfits, they ran onto the field demanding greater
political choice in Russia and the release of political prisoners.
They were detained again immediately after completing that sentence
on Monday for reasons that weren't immediately clear.
The second case against them involves another charge: the
organization and staging of a public, unauthorized event. They again
face possible convictions carrying several days in jail.
Pussy Riot has complained that the second trial would allow them to
be punished twice for the same act.
