Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino shrugged off his team’s double cup exit in the last week as Spurs’ 11-year wait for a trophy continues.
Spurs missed out a spot in the League Cup final after they were beaten by Chelsea in Thursday night’s semifinal second leg.
And on Sunday night, they were sent crashing out of the FA Cup by Crystal Palace as former Spurs winger Andros Townsend and Connor Wickham struck for the Eagles.
To make matters worse for Spurs, Kieran Trippier also shot his penalty wide after Patrick van Aanholt brought down Juan Foyth.
But Poch played down the one-two cup KO, saying: This season is tough and it’s going to be a massive challenge for us... we’re out of two competitions since Wednesday and we’re disappointed.

“Again we’re going to have the debate whether a trophy will take the club to the next level. I don’t agree with it. It only builds your ego.
“The most important thing for Tottenham now is to always be in the top four.”
The Argentinian is confident that his team will get back to winning ways on Wednesday night when they host Watford at Wembley as they look to cement their third place in the standings.
He says: “We have one day less than our opponent [to prepare], they played [on Saturday], but in the Premier League I think we are in a good position. We need to try to get the three points – it will be massive for us.”
