Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba’s love-hate relationship hit a new low this weekend, with the Manchester United boss reportedly calling the club-record signing a “virus”.
Midfielder Pogba had a horror game in the 2-2 draw at Southampton on the weekend after being dropped in last week’s Champions League win over Young Boys.
The France World Cup winner lost the ball repeatedly and failed to complete less than 85 percent of his passes.
According to the Daily Record, a source inside the United dressing room revealed how Jose let loose on his favourite target.
Pogba was told: “You don’t play. You don’t respect players and supporters. And you kill the mentality of the good honest people around you”, before being called a virus.
Mourinho did, however, attack a nameless player in his post-match interview at St Mary’s.
The Portuguese said: “The second goal was a direct free-kick and the first goal was because we don’t press enough the ball when our block is low, which is something that we do wrong.
“We lost so many balls in midfield, we lost so many balls in our transition to the last third, it was difficult to have that continuity. I think it is the only reason.
“In the second half we went back again to that dynamic where we lose too many balls midfield.
“And when the players don’t understand that simplicity is genius, especially in some parts of the pitch, and they keep and keep and keep in going to complicated football it’s difficult to have that continuity.”
