Leroy Sane has urged his Manchester City teammates to prove they are champion material.
Heading into their final Champions League pool game against Hoffenheim, the Premier League champs need a point to finish top of the Group F.
And after their league defeat to Chelsea at the weekend, Sane has challenged his manne to get back to winning ways and show their quality.
The Germany winger says: “We still have a target against Hoffenheim to win the game and finish top.
“We want to finish first and hopefully look good for the round of 16 draw – it’s important we win and end the group stage strongly.
“Even more so because we lost at Chelsea [last] Saturday and didn’t start the group stage very well.
“We have to always show up in every Champions League game we play because if you don’t, you will pay the consequences.
“In our mind, we are starting from scratch and that’s how we’ll approach this game.”
Finishing as group winners would mean the Blues could only be drawn against a side that finishes runners-up of their group.
But the 22-year-old adds that Pep Guardiola’s team could still face one of the big guns in the first knockout stage, with so many strong teams in the competition.
Sane adds: “It’s always difficult and whether you finish first or second, you are guaranteed a tough opponent.”
