Jurgen Klopp snubbed the chance to coach cash-greedy Manchester United before taking the job at Liverpool.
According to former Reds striker Robbie Fowler, Klopp snubbed a number of clubs after leaving Borussia Dortmund.
Fowler reveals: “I did an interview with him [Klopp] a couple of years ago and he told me he turned down a couple of super-rich clubs after Dortmund.
“One of them was definitely Manchester United - because he hated how they were focused solely on commercial influences.
“He said he liked Liverpool because they had a balance between the money needed to reach the top and the history and identity of the club and their fans.”
According to Fowler, Klopp said: “I had talks with other clubs and they didn’t sound like a football club.
“It sounded like marketing, image, you need to sign this, you need to sign that. And I thought ‘wow, that’s not the game I love’.
“It’s all part of football, but it can not be the number one, two, three, four, priority. First of all please try to improve the game we play.”

Klopp joined Liverpool and has since turned the team into a powerhouse again, winning the Champions League last term and currently topping the Premier League charts.
Ahead of their trip to the team Klopp snubbed’s home base, Old Trafford, on Sunday, Liverpool enjoy an eight-point lead at the top of the league as they hunt down a first top-flight title since 1990.
United, on the other hand, are two points above the relegation zone as coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s manne are in the middle of their worst start in 30 years. But it could have been so different.
