Cape Town City on Wednesday announced the signing of Bafana Bafana striker Kermit Erasmus.
It’s another impressive addition to coach Benni McCarthy’s squad, with the highly-rated forward looking to rebuild his career after a frustrating three-year spell in Europe.
City trumpeted the new hitman on Twitter with a video, posting: “Cape Town City is delighted to announce the signing of 28 [year-old] South African striker Kermit Romeo Erasmus from Portuguese Primeira Liga side Vitoria Setubal.
“Kermit signs a permanent three-and-a-half year deal.”
The 28-year-old looks set to replace Tokelo Rantie, who has struggled to get his fitness up since joining as a free agent in September, and City have run out of patience with him amid concerns of a drinking problem.

Erasmus will add to Benni’s strike force of Siphelele Mthembu and Zimbabwe star Matthew Rusike as they look to add to their 17 goals in the PSL campaign so far.
He has scored 32 PSL goals in his past stints at SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates.
