Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy says Bafana Bafana cannot afford to overlook Kermit Erasmus. South Africa has two crucial Afcon qualifiers against Libya coming up.
And Benni, the nation’s all-time leading goalscorer with the 31 goals, is convinced that if Erasmus continues with his impressive run of form, coach Stuart Baxter will be forced to rope him into the national squad.
Erasmus scored his second goal in as many matches as City beat Bidvest Wits 3-2 on Saturday.
And coach Benni explains: “He’s got a hunger for goals, and I told him that every time he gets a sniff in the box, he’s got to be greedy.

“Imagine having this front three for Bafana: Erasmus, Lebo Mothiba and Percy Tau, frightening.
“It’s a work in progress though but Afcon is the intention.”
Bafana will play their final 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifier away to Libya.
The crucial match will take place on March 24 at the Stade Taieb Mhiri in Tunisia with a kick-off at 6pm.
This will be the final match of the group for South Africa, who need to avoid defeat to book a ticket to the Afcon finals, scheduled for Egypt in June this year.
