Premier League leaders Manchester City have the most expensive squad in history, according to a report published on Monday by the Swiss-based CIES Football Observatory.

The research values Pep Guardiola’s squad at £781m (R11735887446.53) after a January transfer window in which City brought in French centreback Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao for £57m (R936334253.38).

Paris St Germain are second, with a squad worth £714m million (R11728818542.36) after spending a world-record £200m (R3284975915.36) on Neymar.

Manchester United £662m (R10879087221.41), Barcelona £643m (R10568850963.86), Chelsea £525m (R8624131281.15), Real Madrid £440m (R7227843359.44), Juventus £418m (R6869272596.00), Liverpool £409m (R6722643925.69), Bayern Munich £397m (R6520677191.99) and Arsenal £403m(R6622767598.53) make up the top 10.
