After announcing the signing of former Ajax midfielder Travis Graham, Cape Town City have now signed Dutchman Chris David.
According, to kickoff.com, David signed a three-year deal.
The 25-year-old has played for English Premier League side Fulham in 2013, as well as Dutch clubs FC Twente and FC Utrecht.
Born in Amsterdam, David scored on his Premier League debut for Fulham against Crystal Palace, but the club had already been relegated in that final match of the season.
“As a football player you always want to achieve the highest possible. I played a year in the Premier League and a second year in the Championship. I learnt a lot from all the players and no one can take that away from me.
“I am really excited to start playing,” David said, following the announcement.
The news of the new signing came just hours after City had to hold on doggedly to record a 3-2 win over Maritzburg United in an enthralling Premiership encounter at Athlone Stadium.
Thami Mkhize gave the Cape team an early lead before Mxolisi Kunene levelled matters in the 61st minute.
The hosts then struck with goals from Gift Links and Riyaad Norodien to go 3-1 up, before Fortune Makaringe reduced the deficit in the 84th minute.
Although the home side had dominated large parts of the game, the visitors showed guts in the final 30 minutes and had the Citizens rattled in the closing stages of the match.
