SICK LEAVE: Star Rivaldo Coetzee

Bafana Bafana will face
Mauritania and Egypt without Ajax Cape Town duo of Rivaldo
Coetzee and Prince Nxumalo.

Defender Rivaldo is suffering from the chicken pox, while striker Nxumalo has a hamstring problem which ruled him out of the Urban Warriors' PSL opener.

Coach Shakes Mashaba said yesterday that he and his
technical team are looking for replacements for their final Afcon 2017 qualifiers against Mauritania in Nelspruit this Friday (7.05pm).

He told reporters: “We have already identified who we will replace these players with, but we are still talking to their clubs and as soon as they confirm and send them to us then we will let you know who those players are.”

For Coetzee, the break could come as a pleasing in disguise - he will miss the Nelson Mandela Challenge clash against the
Pharaohs next Tuesday.

Still only 19, the talent from Kakamas has been playing an awful lot of football since the end of the last PSL season.

Rivaldo was busy with the U23s as they prepared for the Olympics and with the senior side before the off-season.

Then he captained the U23s to Cosafa Cup glory in Namibia in June.

And the youngest ever Bafana player then packed his bags for Rio and played all South Africa’s games in the tournament earlier this month.

It may just have been the right time for Rivaldo to get a rest after such a busy off-season.
