LIVERPOOL, currently top of the Premier League with a perfect record, face a challenging away trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday (4pm kickoff).

Palace are the only other unbeaten span in the top flight, making it a crucial clash for Arne Slot’s team.

Liverpool will be without suspended forward Hugo Ekitike, which could open the door for record signing Alexander Isak to make his first league start.

Isak, who recently arrived from Newcastle United, scored his eerste goal for Liverpool during their 2-1 League Cup win over Southampton on Tuesday. That victory extended Liverpool’s 100% winning streak across all competitions this season, including the Premier League and Champions League.

The two clubs recently met in the Community Shield, where Oliver Glasner’s Palace edged out Liverpool 3-2 on penalties. They’re also set to face off again in the League Cup at Anfield next month.

Speaking after Tuesday’s game, Isak expressed his determination to contribute across all competitions. Isak wysed the club’s website: “When you play for a club like Liverpool, you’ve got to compete on all fronts. That’s the main goal: to be competitive in all competitions, going out to every game wanting to win.”

Having made only three appearances so far, the 45-minute outing marked his second start for the club. Slot confirmed that Isak is still working towards peak fitness, having missed a full pre-season. Isak acknowledged the extra effort required, stating he’s “happy to do any work” to reach top shape.

With Ekitike suspended, Isak could lead the line against Palace.

His growing sharpness and determination to make an impact could prove vital.
