And the proposed tournament got a moerse boost last week when Chris Gayle and Kevin Pietersen signed on the dotted line to represent two of the eight teams.

The two big-hitters have joined Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Bravo, Lasith Malinga, Eoin Morgan, Kieron Pollard and Jason Roy as the eight marquee signings that will enter a mini draft where each of them will be signed to a team for two years.

CSA baas Haroon Lorgat explains: “With each one of them [being] a household name in the world of cricket, we can certainly look forward to some enthralling contests that will grip the imagination of fans in South Africa and around the globe.”

Gayle will be undoubtedly be one the top picks after recently becoming the first man to score 10 000 T20 runs. However, Pollard, Pietersen and Bravo have experience of playing T20s in Mzansi so their signatures will also be on the wanted list.
