Western Province have been hit hard by injuries, sommer at the start of the Currie Cup.
With coach John Dobson getting his charges ready for their first match of the season against the Blue Bulls at Newlands on Saturday, the coach reveals that he has to do so minus his Boks and a string of injuries.
Dobson explains: “We have a couple of injuries too many and a few call-ups.
“The ones that worry me would be [Sikhumbuzo] Notshe, Ali Vermaak, Sergeal Petersen, Dan du Plessis - he is obviously long-term. Kobus Wiese, Johan du Toit and Kobus van Dyk - three really good sevens and Jano Vermaak.”
With Herschel Jantjies called up to the Springbok squad and Vermaak injured again, Dobson is convinced that they have adequate cover at No.9.

He says: “We’re actually alright at scrumhalf.
“We’ve got Paul de Wet, we’ve got Justin Phillips.
"And then we’ve got Godlen Masimla, who has come back and joined us from the Kings."
