After a narrow escape in their last SuperSport Challenge match against Boland and a bye last weekend, Western Province travel to SWD on Sunday at 3pm.

Still unbeaten since the start of the competition last year, coach John Dobson’s team will look for an improved performance from the one that saw them narrowly edge Boland 23-21.

The Capetonians, though, will have to take the field without prop Alistair Vermaak, who was called up to the Stormers squad earlier this week after Steven Kitshoff went down with a stomach injury.

With five tries to his name, Province’s Duncan Saal is chasing the tournament’s current leading try-scorer – former Tygerberg backline star and now-Griquas wing Enver Brandt with seven touchdowns.

Weekend fixtures
Free State XV v Sharks XV (6pm)
Boland Cavaliers v EP Elephants (2.30pm)
Pumas v Valke (3pm)
Griquas v Griffons (3pm)
Blue Bulls v Golden Lions XV (1pm)
