The Blitzboks will carry the hopes of the nation in the Cape Town Sevens this weekend.
The World Series champions got off to a bad start in this year’s campaign, losing to England in the quarterfinal of the Dubai Sevens last weekend.
And they will be desperate to claim the South African leg of the Series this weekend after missing out in their last two attempts.
Coach Neil Powell explains: “Knowing the players, they will all be desperate to correct last weekend’s disappointments and they get a chance to redeem themselves this week.
“We have learned lessons from last weekend, but that is also true for the other teams in the tournament.
“Everybody knows a little more of each other than was the case last week, so it will be tougher to break down defences, no doubt.
“That said, we know we can only improve from last week and that is a nice prospect.”
Their first chance to show that improvement is against Samoa tomorrow at 12.27 pm.
Of that encounter, Powell adds: “We had a tough battle against them in Dubai and this time it will not be different.”
