Sharks hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle has put up his hand to take the vacant Springbok No.2 jersey.
With Malcolm Marx sidelined because of injury, new Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus is looking for a new hooker.
In Ralepelle, he has one of the most experienced players currently playing in South Africa, having had his first taste of international rugby back in 2006.
The 31-year-old Sharks star believes he made some improvements in his game over the last year or so.
Ralepelle explains: “As an athlete, you strive to be the best.
“I took stats from last year and looked at what I was capable of doing.
“I’ve worked closely with the conditioning coaches.
“The mind side of it [my game] is also something I’ve put a lot of attention on where previously I hadn’t thought about it.”
