SACHA Feinberg-Mngomezulu rewrote the history books on Saturday after scoring 37 points in the Springboks’ 67-30 Rugby Championship victory over Argentina at Kings Park.
The Stormers yster scored a hat-trick of tries, and slotted eight conversions and two penalties as he swept past ex-Bok Percy Montgomery’s 35-point haul set against Namibia in 2007.
Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s scoring prowess saw South Africa tame the Pumas by scoring 42 points in the second half.
Just before halftime the game was pretty much in the balance as the Boks seemed to lose some momentum after giving away a silly try as Cheslin Kolbe was adjudged to have restarted the game by drop-kicking the ball in his in-goal area towards a teammate.
Argentina centre Santiago Chocobares then pounced by picking up the ball and scoring under the sticks.
But up stepped Feinberg-Mngomezulu for his first bit of magic as he caught the Argentine defence napping with a kick into space and then chasing hard to scoop up the ball and score.
However, another Bok mistake, this time conceding a penalty try and yellow card to Malcolm Marx.
With seconds left before the break, Feinberg-Mngomezulu launched a high contestable restart, with the Boks reclaiming the kick-off before the No.10 danced his way past four defenders to score his second five-pointer under the sticks and made sure the Bokke hit the sheds in the lead.
A third Feinberg-Mngomezulu magic moment after the break saw the Boks start to pull away.
The Bok magician scored a third try, while the Pumas threw a final punch as replacement flyhalf Tomas Albornoz scored.
However, that could not stop the Boks from powering towards the finish line as Pieter-Steph du Toit scored a brace and replacements Morne van den Bergh also chipped in with a five-pointer.
