THE Springboks are back in the Rugby Championship title race after humiliating the All Blacks 43-10 at Wellington Regional Stadium, but coach Rassie Erasmus wysed his team has achieved nothing yet.

Retaining the Freedom Cup, South Africa moved from third to second on the Rugby Championship standings after another thrilling weekend that saw new log-leaders Australia go down 28-26 to Argentina.

All four teams have now won two and lost two games heading into the final two rounds of this year’s tightly-contested tournament.

But while Bok fans are going bos about their team’s record-breaking win against New Zealand, Erasmus has urged his team to stay humble.

Erasmus wysed: “We’ve been on the other side, where we got 57-0, so the scoreline is nice, but we are just glad we got five points and are back in the mix in the Rugby Championship.

“We know people are going to talk about records... but I know what it feels like to be in the change-room on the other side of a result like that, so I don’t think we should dwell on that.”

For Erasmus the only thing his span should celebrate is restoring the faith of their supporters who might have questioned the team’s growth after two previous losses.

Of that, Erasmus said: “The main thing for us going into this game was to get the belief in the team back again, and we are back at No 1 in the world, but we know we are going to face two tough matches against Argentina, who have really been playing well.

“As a team, we want our people to believe in us because we see and feel what they do for us, and everyone back home trusts us to do our best. For us, it is never about proving people wrong.”

Meanwhile, the Boks dedicated their historic win to fallen hero Bevin Fortuin who passed away ahead of the weekend’s clash.

Damian Willemse said: “This was awesome, what a performance by the boys. This one was for Bevin and also for our coaching staff. The boys stepped up tonight [Saturday].”
