WESTERN Province have asked neighbours Boland Kavaliers to klim ‘n helse berg if they want to reach the semi-finals of the Currie Cup in Saturday's 2.45pm kickoff at Cape Town Stadium.

It will be the first time in nine years that the Kaapse neighbours tackle each other in a Currie Cup derby – with the Streeptruie narrowly winning that 2016 contest 30-28 at old stomping ground, Newlands.

Back then, it was also a WP squad filled with star names, but to the visiting Boland outfit it did not matter, as they pushed their neighbours all the way in a game WP needed to win to reach the semis.

Fast forward to 2025 and the tables have turned, with coach Hawies Fourie’s second-on-the-log Kavas needing a win to be sure of a semi-final spot and coach Labeeb Levy’s WP playing for pride and to breek hulle eier after six straight losses.

With a vrag Stormers ysters such as Seabelo Senatla, Leolin Zas, Evan Roos and Deon Fourie among others brought into the WP team, the Kaapse span want to make a statement as who is still the top dog innie Wes-Kaap.

However, Boland could also come into Saturday's game, having already qualified for the semis.

That is if the team that beat them last week, the Sharks, can do them a groot guns by klapping the Pumas in Friday's 7pm clash at Kings Park.

Meanwhile, favours in Saturday's late kick-offs could also help Boland out, when the table-topping Griquas travel to tackle the Lions (third) at Ellis Park at 5pm.

The Bulls, also out of the semi-final race, are expected to roll out their big guns, with Johann Ackerman in the coaches' box, for a 7.05pm clash with the fourth-placed Cheetahs in Pretoria.
