WESTERN Province coach Labeeb Levy has made 11 changes to his matchday squad for a crunch Currie Cup Premier Division game against Griquas on Friday at 3pm in Kimberley.

Five changes have been made to the starting line-up as Springbok Sevens yster Tristan Leyds gets a first start of the season at fullback, with fellow Blitzbok Shilton van Wyk dropping to the bench.

Former Blitzbok Justin Geduld also gets a start at outside centre alongside Damian Markus, with Luke Burger dropping to the bench.

Jurie Matthee has been declared fit and will start at flyhalf with Kyle Smith dropped.

Among the forwards, De Wet Marais will start at blindside flank while Mhleli Khuzwayo comes in at loosehead prop.

Levy has also picked Junior Springbok props Oliver Reid and Herman Lubbe to play off the bench, as Adam de Waal and Aden da Costa complete the changes to the 23-man squad.

After making a vrag changes, Levy is hopeful for a first win as Province eye getting their campaign, to reach the semi-finals, back on track.

He wysed the Daily Voice: “Look, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that [a win] will enhance any chance that we [still] have. It is a short competition, there is no double round, with seven league games flat.

“We just need to keep these players getting better and playing smarter.”  

Meanwhile, in Saturday's action, the Bulls tackle the Pumas at Loftus at 3pm while the Sharks are hunting a first win when they welcome the Cheetahs to Kings Park for a 5.10pm clash.

And in Wellington on Sunday at 3pm, the Boland Cavaliers will be chasing a groot upset win when they tackle an unbeaten Lions at Boland Stadium.
