Cape Town City are ready to put their bodies on the line to beat Free State Stars this weekend and keep their PSL title dreams alive.
Benni McCarthy’s second-placed manne go to Goble Park for a tough encounter against Ea Lla Koto, who are flying high in third.
But with three 1-0 wins in a row for the Citizens, hard-tackling midfielder Thabo Nodada, who has been nicknamed Kante, is upbeat.
He says: “The three cleansheets come as no surprise because the team works very hard on defence. Whenever we lose the ball, everyone works hard to get it back. It goes to show with the momentum, that we manage to defend 1-0 wins.
“The recent winning streak makes us positive going forward and gives us a lot of confidence. And we want to get the winning momentum going, especially in the second half of the season, where every point counts.”
City have been boosted by the return to fitness of hardman Mpho Matsi ahead of a physical test, while attacking duo Ayanda Patosi and Judas Moseamedi will lessen the impact of Aubrey Ngoma’s exit to Mamelodi Sundowns.
And Nodada adds: “Free State Stars away is always hard, Goble Park is tough place to go. But I think we are ready for the challenge. We are going there for a win.
“As hard as it’s going to be, we are ready to fight and compete and give ourselves a better chance at the title. Because that’s what it boils down to. Everyone wants to end up top and if we have to go and give up our bodies so be it.”
