Rain denied the Cape Cobras a shot at winning their first match in the 4-Day Series against the Warriors at Newlands on Wednesday.
The Capetonians would have fancied their chances at the end of the third day, having had the visitors in die moeilikheid on 259/9 in reply to their first innings total of 513/6 declared.
An early wicket for the Cobras would have allowed them a shot at bowling out the Warriors in their follow-on innings, but it wasn’t to be as rain bucketed down in the Mother City without a ball being bowled on the final day.
While there was no action at Newlands, Proteas stars shone in other parts of the country.
Keshav Maharaj was on fire for the Dolphins in their 86-run win over the Lions at the Wanderers, claiming a total of 13 wickets in the clash. The spinner took 7/48 in the second innings as they bowled out their hosts for 162 in the final innings of the match Wednesday.
Aiden Markram, meanwhile, saved the day for the Titans with his unbeaten knock of 204 as they ended Day 4 on 386/3 to force a draw against the Knights.
