Proteas limited overs captain Quinton de Kock was the big winner at Cricket South Africa’s annual awards ceremony on Saturday.
The wicketkeeper-batsman won the SA Cricketer of the Year award, as well as this season's Test Cricketer and Players’ Player of the Year awards.
Scary thought, but de Kock says he bagged those awards by operating at only 65 percent of his potential.
The ODI skipper, who also won the big award in 2017, says: “Last season I was only about 6-and-a half [out of 10]. I had too many starts and did not convert enough into bigger runs.”
Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi was the other big winner on the night,
bagging both the ODI Player of the Year and T20I Player of the Year
trophies.
Closer to home, Cape Cobras off spinner and George Linde also scooped up two awards at the ceremony, being named the domestic four-day Player of the Year as well as the South African Cricketers Association’s Most Value Player award.
