Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman all but conceded their Champions League last-16 tie after Paris St Germain star Kylian Mbappe’s hattrick blew them away 4-1 at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night.
Lionel Messi gave Barca the lead with a 27th-minute penalty, but Mbappe changed the game with two emphatic strikes to punish Koeman’s defence, before Moise Kean made it 3-1 with a free header and Mbappe finished the Catalans off with a curler from a breakaway.
Koeman says: “That was a cold bath of reality.
“The game showed us we’re lacking a lot of things to be a top level team, especially of the level you need in the Champions League.
“The scoreline reflects how superior they were. They were far more effective than us.”
Barca go to Paris on March 10 with little hope of overturning the deficit, as PSG could have former Nou Camp ace Neymar back from injury.
