South Africa ended their limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka by completing a 3-0 T20I series whitewash over their hosts at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Proteas went down 2-1 in the ODI series, but under the guidance of stand-in skipper Keshav Maharaj they were absolutey ruthless in the 20-over game.
After winning the first match by 28 runs, South Africa turned up the heat in the second to win it by nine wickets after bowling out Sri Lanka for just 103 runs.
They were gevaarlik in the field again yesterday, with Maharaj’s bowling changes working a treat as they restricted a rather soft Sri Lanka batting line-up to 120/8.
Bjorn Fortuin (2/21) returned the best bowling figures for SA.
Chasing a low total for victory, the Proteas were never expected to fail in their bid to win the match.
They then put in a superb batting display also, getting home with a volle 10 wickets in the bank and 32 balls to spare.
Openers Quinton de Kock (59 off 46 balls) and Reeza Hendricks (56 off 42) scored the hele runs as SA finished on 121/0, leaving their hosts stert tussen die bene in Colombo.
