Proteas coach Russell Domingo

Domingo received news on Sunday morning that his mother had been placed on life support, and promptly left the Proteas on day four of the first Test against England at Lord’s in London.

Domingo, however, did not make it back in time to be with his mother in her final moments as he landed in South Africa on Monday morning to the news that he was too late.

Domingo’s mother had been in an accident just over two weeks ago, forcing the coach to return to South Africa in the middle of their T20 series against England.

South Africa lost the first Test against England on Sunday on day four by 211 runs.
