The Proteas ended their 14-day self-quarantine period yesterday and team doctor Shuaib Manjra says none of them returned positive results for Covid-19 after their trip to India.
Quinton de Kock and his teammates returned to South Africa on March 18 after their matches against India were cancelled because of the coronavirus.
They were then placed in self-quarantine for 14 days - with the period ending on Thursday.
Doctor Manjra explains: “We continued to monitor them for symptoms and signs of the disease, thankfully the players were symptom-free and those who opted to do the test returned negative results.”
While the players continue to work at home during lockdown, Cricket South Africa’s administrative staff has also been busy.
CEO Jacques Faul has held discussions with interim director Graeme Smith to give him a permanent role, while they are also in the process of appointing a new convenor of selectors.
Ex-Proteas star Victor Mpitsang is believed to be the frontrunner for the job.
Linda Zondi currently occupies the head post of independent selector, but has previously served two terms as the convenor of selectors from 2015 until the end of the ill-fated Cricket World Cup last year.
Zondi has confirmed that he will be applying for the new position.
But Independent Media understands that Cricket SA is hoping for Mpitsang, current SA U19 selection chief, to breathe fresh life into the selection panel.
