Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil says he wants to play for Fenerbahce before hanging up his boots one day.
The 32-year-old has been frozen out of Mikel Arteta’s team and has been linked with a move to the Turkish club.
With his Gunners contract coming to an end in June, the rumours are suggesting that Ozil might join Turkish giants Fenerbahce this month already.
Of a possible move, Ozil says: “Fenerbahce is like [my former club] Real Madrid in Spain. The biggest club in the country.
“Every German-Turkish person supports a Turkish team when they grow up in Germany. And mine was Fenerbahce.
“There are two countries I want to play football in before I retire: Turkey and USA. If I went to Turkey, I could only go to Fenerbahce.”
Ozil, though, says he doesn’t regret joining Arsenal from Real in 2013.
He adds: “There have been many ups and downs so far, but all in all I’ve never regretted my decision to join Arsenal.”
