Ex-Man United stars believe Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has found the missing piece in his puzzle after watching Bruno Fernandes destroy Brighton in their 3-0 win on Tuesday night.
The Portuguese star’s double had both Paul Scholes and Gary Neville singing his praises.
After teenage striker Mason Greenwood fired the Red Devils ahead in the 17th minute, it was all about
Fernandes.
The January arrival opened his account with a deflected finish on the half-hour mark, before he volleyed Greenwood’s cross home after 50 minutes for his sixth goal in 13 games across all competitions for United.
Scholes says of the man who inherited his No.18 shirt: “He helps a lot with breaking the offensive staleness”, before warning that United were back in an Instagram post, reading: “Well then... I think we have a football team.”
Former skipper Neville reckons that if a paar more United stars step up to Fernandes’ level, then
Solskjaer’s manne would be higher in the league than fifth.
YOUNG TALENT: Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood
He adds: “Three or four players of high quality - the Bruno Fernandes type - that would get them to a point to start to challenge.”
Solskjaer, though, says there’s more where that came from, hailing his rejuvenated team, who are now on a 15-match unbeaten run
The boss reckons everyone is making a contribution, saying: “I think it’s very important that you have players who chip in. Of course, Marcus [Rashford] and Anthony [Martial] have had the majority of the goals - 19 each.
EXCITED: United's Solskjaer
“Bruno’s come in and done
fantastic, Mason’s always chipping in with goals, we know Paul [Pogba]’s always going to get goals.
“I thought Scotty [McTominay] went close today, Dan [James] was close, Odion [Ighalo]’s come in and done well.”
